U.S. Presidents Cup Team wears Sun Mountain Outerwear to Victory

Congratulations to the 2011 U.S. Presidents Cup Team on its 19 – 15 victory over a very talented International Team. We are proud that we were part of the effort as the Official Outerwear provider to the U.S. Team.

The weather in Melbourne, Australia for the 2011 Presidents Cup lived up to its reputation, ranging from windy and 70s, to sunny and upper 90s, to rainy and 50s all in the course of four days.

With full knowledge of the unpredictable nature of the weather, we equipped the U.S. squad with a lot of options to include Sun Mountain rain gear and wind wear in both short and long sleeves. In addition to the players, we also provided rain and wind gear for caddies, tournament officials and players’ significant others.

Sun Mountain rain gear was out in force on Saturday when temperatures dipped into the 50s and rain showers were the order of the day. Sunday started out brisk and saw most of the caddies and some of the players wearing Sun Mountain wind wear.

So, congrats Team USA and thanks Captain Fred Couples for once again selecting Sun Mountain to design your team’s golf outerwear.

Sun Mountain Rain Gear Chosen for the U.S. Presidents Cup Team

We are proud to announce that in 2009 and now again for 2011, Sun Mountain has been chosen as the official outerwear provider for The Presidents Cup United States Team.

We spent a lot of time over the past year looking specifically at solutions to the weather protection needs of tournament golfers (and how that differs from the needs of the everyday, casual golfer). The resulting solution for The Presidents Cup is custom-designed rain gear constructed from an advanced, new four-way stretch woven fabric.

The Presidents Cup 2011 team rain wear will include long and short sleeve rain jackets and rain pants that offer protection from wind and rain while being breathable and offering enough stretch to meet the flexibility needed for a golf swing. In addition to Sun Mountain rain suits, The Presidents Cup 2011 United States team will have [Read more...]

Ashley Prange Wins the Sun Mountain Skills Summit

Congratulations to LPGA Futures Tour player, Ashley Prange, along with her four amateur teammates, for winning the Sun Mountain Skills Summit finals.

Sun Mountain awarded Prange $1,000 for her victory in the “Big Break-style” skills challenge. The four amateurs each won Sun Mountain RainFlex LT pullover women’s waterproof golf jackets.

“This is a fun contest to do for $1,000 and I’ve been wearing Sun Mountain rain gear and carrying their (women’s golf stand) bag all year anyway,” said Prange, who won the Golf Channel’s “2006 “Big Break V: Hawaii”.

In the finals, each of the pros teamed up with four amateurs to compete for points in skills challenges. The skills challenges included a bunker shot, a long chip, an over-the-wall chip to a flagstick for points on a target green, and a 75-yard pitch. The final skills challenge teamed one amateur from each team with the pro for a putting competition.

Prange competed in the Sun Mountain Skill Summit against fellow LPGA Futures Tour pros Brittany Johnston, Amy Eneroth, and Benedikte Grotvedt who each advanced to the finals from the initial field of 20 contestants.
