New Sun Mountain rain gear for 2012 includes the Torrent. Torrent offers guaranteed waterproof protection using an advanced, new four-way stretch woven fabric. This breakthrough new fabric protects from rain and wind while stretching to allow a free golf swing and being breathable. Torrent is available in two varieties – Torrent and Torrent LT. Torrent is available in a full-zip jacket and pant for men and women. The lighter weight Torrent LT is available in three men’s styles: jacket, half-zip pullover and short sleeve pullover and pants. Retail prices range from $119 – $164.
“We have been working diligently for the past couple of years to find a stretchable, woven fabric to complement our ever-popular knit RainFlex® line of rain gear,” explained Sun Mountain Founder Rick Reimers. “The fabric used in the Torrent is the same fabric that performed admirably in the team gear we created for the 2011 USA Presidents Cup Team.”
Construction of the Torrent consists of a waterproof/breathable membrane laminated to a four-way stretch woven fabric that is treated with an advanced durable water repellant (DWR) finish. Sewn to the interior of the garment is a liner to offer a slick layer that does not catch and grab on players’ clothes and to protect the waterproof membrane.
Torrent LT is a lighter weight version of Torrent thanks to a laminated liner, as opposed to the sewn-in liner on the Torrent. In technical terms, Torrent LT is 2.5 layer construction, a method popular in the outdoor industry, which means the garment is made from the same stretchable woven fabric and uses the same waterproof/breathable laminate and DWR as the Torrent but has a lighter liner.
Both Torrent and Torrent LT come with a two-year waterproof guarantee.
