If a bag has a dual strap system, it is meant to be worn like a backpack for maximum balance and comfort. For short distances, you may choose to carry the bag with only one strap. The bag should be positioned so that the hip pad rests on the lower part of your back, at hip height. Adjust the straps to be snug to minimize movement and friction. If a bag has a single strap, switch shoulders to reduce fatigue and maintain comfort throughout your round.

On average, a fully loaded golf bag is about 20 to 30 lbs including clubs, accessories and gear. When empty, Sunday bags can range from 2-5 lbs. Stand bags are usually 4-7 lbs. Cart bags are 6-9 lbs. For best results, arrange clubs in your golf bags from longest to shortest. It's best to arrange the longest clubs (driver, woods, hybrids) at the top of the bag and the shorter clubs (irons and wedges) toward the bottom of the bag. Putters are typically placed in a separate putter well, or at the top of the bag.

It's best to place the longest clubs — including driver, woods and hybrids — in the top of the bag. Place mid to long irons in the upper-middle, short irons in the lower-middle, and wedges and putter in the bottom of your bag. This arrangement reduces the chance of clubs clanking together and protects graphite shafts.

Top Section: Driver, fairway woods, and hybrids.
Place your longest clubs in the top row of the bag. This keeps larger clubheads out of the way and makes them easier to grab when the bag is on a cart or push cart.

Middle Section: Long irons and mid irons.
